Intel ISEF: An International Science Fair Experience (with Videos)

The messages were all around me: "The Future is Bright", the banner said. The next one, "Tomorrow Begins Today". Other messages? "Think Possible" and "Get Your Heads in The Clouds". This is an L.A. Story.

I was inspired this week.  I was in an International environment.  A Science Fair with over 1700 contestants from 70 countries.  Over 1000 judges judging the 1700 finalist entries from science fairs around the world.  I wonder how many volunteers criss crossing the US to get here.  It was the Intel ISEF.  An International High School Science Fair.  What a boon to the local communities, I thought.  This year, Los Angeles was the beneficiary.

I was there on Monday, and visited with 6 finalists from 5 different countries.  The depth of the entries was amazing, and the problems presented reflected regional issues and influences.

I encourage you to watch the videos of my interviews with those I met.  I only regret that I didn't have time to talk to more of the presenters at this International event!

I am pleased to be writing this from the Bay Area.  I am here to attend the San Mateo Maker Faire, a different type of fair with... yes... some Science involvements.  Intel is the sponsor for the Maker Faire Education Day, which is held the Thursday before the fair.

Remember.  The Future is Bright.  Tomorrow Begins Today.  Think Possible and, whatever you do... Get Your Head in The Clouds!
