Well, it's been until 10pm or later most of the last six years. I didn't go there last year. TheirRead More phone number is supposedly 818-374-5650, so I'd call them and see if they can confirm or disavow staying until 10 or midnight anymore.

Yes folks. Keep paying your taxes and voting. You can see how well that formula has worked for usRead More in the past. I might even toss in a tip for Uncle Sam this year and ask him to apply it to more foreign aid. I heard that Ukraine needs some bailout money. Either that or give it to a to a too big to fail bank so that they can pay this year's executive bonuses. Six of one, half dozen of the other.

The real sad news is America is on tract to become a third world country because of our ability toRead More ignore the real life threatening issues and focus on the ridiculous . I care nothing about the claimed mistreatment of the killer whales at sea world simply because some bleeding hearts out there think they are being mistreated. I have gone for decades and have seen how dedicated these trainers and handlers are. Millions of people have been introduced to the wonders of the killer whales through these shows. I see nothing wrong with this. I suggest we work on taking care of the millions of less fortunate humans that can't feed themselves or get a job to support themselves. I don't see the importance of worrying about the fact that the whales dorsal fin leans to one side because of being confined to a tank. Simply unbelievable. This whale issue is dead as far as I am concerned. I heard a funny saying the other night coming out of a liberal Hollywood comedy show on cable. It was let's Nuke the gay whales for Jesus. I think it says it all.

America is on it's way to becoming a third world country, but not because kind people want the worldRead More to be a better place. It is because massive corporations are legally treated like people and not held responsible for paying their share of taxes in this country and because selfish ignorant people like you bury their heads in the sand and repeat all the sound bytes they hear on fox news instead of helping to change anything. Get educated and open your mind.

YOO - HOO ground control to a-hole tom jackson...... It is people like you with your mental stateRead More of thinking is the mere reason this world is falling apart and going extinct. I would just LOVE to put you into a small cage and have trainers educate others that pay to see you being poked and prod to perform tricks for food. Let your mental madness begin!!! Los Angeles County officials want to train foster parents, social workers and other caregivers to spot signs of sexual exploitation in children. Patch file photo.

Despicable and disgusting. But it's not surprising in the least that the system allows things likeRead More this to go on, based on how any government agencies seem to operate (or fail to operate as it may be). Although I cannot judge any particular foster family or group home, I have seen too many situations where the fostering feels money-motivated. Therefore, it would make sense that such "foster parents" would allow these kids to be exposed to such abuses, as long as the dollar is king. Shame.

There are other avenues that Churches have known well before the city's have been alerted ofRead More exploration of minors in various ways. Now the city's have considered to use churches to help solve this problem. One of them is called the "Dream Center". Your contribution to Angelus Temple is greatly appreciated to stop this, as we continue on the right path. We have tours of the "Dream Center" on Sunday near Echo Park downtown L.A. Henry

I can assure you that social workers, probation officers, foster parents and employees of groupRead More homes are well versed in the signs of sexual exploitation of children. The problem isn't lack of education or not knowing what to look for. The issue is ENFORCEMENT Of the laws that protect minors from predators. The system is broken, corrupt and in need of a complete overhaul. Until and unless that happens, nothing is going to change. One more training class will assuage the guilt of those who should be reporting the crimes instead of looking the other way.

@laura Do you even read? Or do you just get information from the daily show and spew it out of yourRead More butt as your own. Why are you trifling with me?
martin marteen March 16, 2014 at 07:50 pm
Hot and heavy. I generally find that the "truth"lies somewhere in between. We must acceptRead More the facts, good and bad. However we must make reasonable decisions based on realistic needs. Those who want to minimize use of fossil fuels, I am with you. But it seems you have the wrong approach. I also agree with those who are in favor of fracking. How to reconcile the diametrically opposed views? You must control population, you must control utilization, control waste, and the rest will come naturally. No demand will lead to no fracking, peacefully. Those who oppose being exposed to second hand smoke, are also the ones that spew out the most pollution into the air by driving huge SUV's for miles and miles daily, negating their goal and seem disingenuous. Same with a host of other issues. On that of that they create a hypochondriacal society, who ask for more and more health care, and then wonder why health care prices keep going up, and blame Hospitals or Drs. or any one "else". None of us are perfect nor is whatever we espouse.

Here we go again! Millions spent for publicity that will be reimbursed by the consumer. Rates willRead More be increased in order to influence more conservative use of domestic water. When consumers do succeed in reducing water consumption the Water companies will cry to the PUC to allow them to increase rates again because of loss of revenue caused by reduced consumption. History does repeat itself and the consumers don't learn!
Stan Jacobs March 12, 2014 at 11:54 pm
Plus they want you to use less water so that the developers can continue their building projects. IfRead More we don't have enough for the present population why are they inducing more growth?
rob March 13, 2014 at 07:03 am
As long as we have money grabbing politicians, city councilmen, etc. etc. our problems will continueRead More to grow. The city government in San Juan are into it just for the money, they can care less about our city and the people. They have other issues they need to take care of. Traffic issues downtown are crazy, even dangerous. I sat at Del Obispo and Alipaz going towards town on Del Obispo, the traffic back up was horrible, especially when the train signal turns red at the tracks and you sit and sit while people are blocking intersections, making illegal uturns because they cant handle the gridlock. What is crazy is the cross traffic going west bound on Alipaz is only 2-3 cars yet we sit forever at the red light. Yep, this is our city council at it's best. JOKE

Scott, actually, you are on tg something! It is, absolutely, wrong to give extra benefits toRead More government employees, since we, all, are working for USA, Inc., i.e., we are ALL government employees. I will post a piece on UNIONS. mz mikiesmoky@aol.com
MICHAEL ZITTERMAN February 20, 2014 at 05:41 am
TRADE AND SERVICE UNIONS DEFINITION: A number of persons joining together for someRead More common purpose. TYPES OF UNIONS: Private and public FACTS: Private and public unions negotiate with employers to obtain specific goals for those persons being represented. Subjects for negotiations include wages, benefits, and working conditions. If negotiations result in additional costs to an employer: a.A private employer will absorbed those costs or will pass some or all to the customers. b.A public employer will have its “rainy-day” funds reduced or will raise additional revenue from its taxpayers. ANALYSIS: a.If a private employer absorbs additional negotiated costs, margins will be affected, which will reduce taxable income, which will cause a reduction in the value of the employer’s business. If the employer passes on the additional costs to its customers, it would be inflationary and the customers would have less spendable funds for other expenditures, which may adversely affect the economics. In most instances of higher costs, those costs will be passed on to the customers. b.If a public employer raises additional revenue from its taxpayers, the taxpayers will have less spendable funds and that may adversely affect the economics. c.When a politician, economist, or anyone else calls for high-paying union jobs, they are implying that there be a shift of wealth from customers to the high-paying union jobs. mz February 26, 2011

"Separation of church and state" is not a Constitutional concept. It is a paraphrase of aRead More passage in a letter Thomas Jefferson wrote in 1802, long after the Constitution was ratified. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- All the Constitution states is that that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..." ----------------------------------------------------------- Los Angeles County is not Congress. By accurately depicting a Spanish Mission in its County Seal Los Angeles does not either establish a religion, or prohibit the free exercise thereof. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- By accurately depicting a Spanish Mission in its County Seal Los Angeles does not "favor the Christian religion over all other religions" or "divide County residents by religion and by adherence or non-adherence to religious beliefs". ----------------------------------------------------------------- All L.A. County is doing is accurately depicting an important aspect of its history. Get over it ACLU!

I would be interested to learn the breakdown of the sorts of policies Californians signed up for. InRead More Washington State, some 90% of those who signed up for ACA through that state's exchange, signed up for Medicaid (welfare-based) plans, further burdening the state's (and the nation's) already heavily-burdened taxpayers. -------------------------------------------- I would also be interested to learn how many Californians who had health plans that they liked, saw their plans cancelled as a direct result of ACA requirements. ---------------------------------------------- I would also be interested to learn whether the average policy premiums, deductibles, and co-pays in California increased, as has occurred elsewhere in the nation and, if so, by what amounts. ---------------------------------------------------------- Any information on those numbers?

What a mess! Went through their web-site, accumulated time spent 22 hours. When the web-site saidRead More 863 people ahead of you and then 3 1/2 hours later they were down to 5 people. I find Obama has learned more from Pete Seeger than any president I have seen since the 60's. NoRead More one has shown more courage, wisdom and ability to compromise than Obama. Unlike some in the Congress...I want a president who sees peace more important than bombs, who has now said, much to the despair of the writer, that he is now fighting with the use of his pen, rather than the rude, intolerant statements made by people who should have only respect for the office. I am not black, but I have now seen the face of what white angry people look like. There is nothing you can say that will change their thoughts, outlook or demeanor. I knew Pete when he was fighting the war in Viet Nam, in the 60's when he gave us hope and so Ms. Crawford..it is time for an adjustment, not a chiropractic one, but one in mindset. I guess you did not see hope, because you now write for the "patch" and you only see Opportunity--for you that is.

The AQMD has been one of the key contributors of industry moving out of California with their NaziRead More Storm Trooper tactics and self-perpetuating jobs by getting into every ones knickers. John B. Greet January 28, 2014 at 10:22 am
Sounds hopeful doesn't it? Unfortunately these numbers do not account for the tens of thousands ofRead More state, county, and city residents who have long since given up looking for work altogether. These people (reflective of the labor participation rate) are typically no longer counted. Because they are no longer counted, the rates typically reported do not accurately reflect the true unemployment situation. ------------------------------------------------------------------- According to EDD, in December the California labor force *shrunk* by 23,900 people and unemployment insurance claims *increased* by 31,221. Put simply: 13,600 (the *actual* number of non-farm jobs added) minus 23,900 is a net *loss* of 10,300 employed persons...not a net gain. But this is not the sort of factual perspective the Democrat-controlled state government wants to include in its press releases.

Poverty is growing nationally in all areas. American's have not faced such personal hardship sinceRead More the Great Depression. One in three children in America will at some point in their childhood live in a home that receives public assistance. Food stability, and secure, safe housing have become a problem that many Americans believed could not and would not happen in our country, but not only is it happening, its moved way beyond levels that most can imagine. During the 1960's and 1970's poverty and hunger were something that happened in third world countries....eat your dinner, children in China or Africa or India are starving, you should be grateful...in the 1980's and 1990's hunger and poverty were something that happened in urban cities with high crime...eat your food, your should be grateful we have clean air and water and aren't stuck in the projects...today hunger and poverty is living and breathing in the nooks and crannies of almost every community...eat your food, be grateful, our neighbors are going without.
