Man's Body Found Burning in Long Beach

The victim remains a mystery, and police can only identify the victim as a man from Long Beach.

A man was found dead Saturday in burning brush in Long Beach, police said.

The fire was reported at 6:39 a.m. just north of Pacific Coast Highway at Cressa Park on the east side of the Los Angeles River, according to Sgt. David Marander, of the Long Beach Police Department. Firefighters arriving to the location and extinguished the small brush fire found a dead body in the burned shrubbery, Marander said.

``Investigators believe the dead body is a male adult,'' Marander said. ``The victim's identity is unknown at this time.'' Marander said the incident is being investgated by homicide detectives and arson investigators.
