Want 3D Printer? Big Opportunity at the 3D Printer Expo this Friday/Saturday

3D Print technology is growing up! It gets its' own Expo!

The 3D Printer Expo will be held this Friday and Saturday at the Marriott Burbank Airport Hotel.  Be there or be 2D!  A little secret... it's not all about printing.

So... I've talked right and left about 3D printers.  Up and down and played around... on Thingiverse, and Tinkercad.  With PLA in black, mostly.  I don't play all the time, so my one reel is taking a LONG time to get used up.  That's good and bad.  I don't have to pitch in another $50+ to get more materials, but I only have black to work with... I want to play with another color.  I want to use ABS filament.  I know... to those experienced with 3D printing, it's like taking baby steps, but yes, that's where I am, in my 'learning to walk' stage.

But I digress.

I've spent a fair amount of time drooling over 3D printers, and I was very lucky to have received a loan of one from DeezMaker's Diego, the Pasadena based 3D printer  designer/manufacturer who was featured in the LA Times and the Make: Ultimate Guide to 3D Printing 2014.

3D printing is at the point where it gets its own Expo!  Now THAT's big.

I can't wait.  I've seen scanner to print technology at the Maker Faire in the Bay Area and at SigGraph in Anaheim.  Visualize this: Sit in a chair, the scanners go around you and image the crevices of your nose, ears, eyes.  Bits churn and processors overheat... Appearing on the screen, why it's you!  Then hit the print button and Voila! There it is, Mini-You in ABS plastic.

Now, the guys at Fuel3D have promised me a scan session... I wonder if I can take that and have someone print it out... Maybe I can get the DeezMaker or AirWolf guys to help.  Hey, I wonder if I can print my Mini-Me out on my 3D loaner printer?  Shhh... don't anyone remind Diego of DeezMaker in Pasadena that he's loaned me a printer.  I know it's his old model that he probably doesn't need any more, but... you know... I don't want to lose this treasure that is reaching so many here in Long Beach

EEK!  I'm so excited!  See you at the Expo?

And: I do believe that another Letter to Santa is in order...
