Give Your Scout a Boost on His Way to Eagle

My son pointed out something interesting. He can address some of his more difficult merit badges at the Sea Base Aquatics Camp this summer.

We haven't been to the Sea Base Aquatics camp yet.  Our unit traditionally goes to Camp Tahquitz in the summer.  Beyond that, it's been other camps and activities.  This year, though, we're setting our sights (early) on Eagle Scout.

It's better to get started early.  You get as many merit badges out of the way while you are in middle school, so that when the school work gets harder (in high school), you're ahead of the game.

Although there are many, many merit badges, we're focusing on the ones that are a bit more work (read: more difficult to get jazzed up about on your own) and that are not offered at Camp Tahquitz.

Our budget is limited, but I wanted my son to be able to experience this local scout opportunity.  I think that it can become one of his fonder memories... merit badges and the beach.

What more can a scout want?

Scouts from the San Gabriel Valley, Los Angeles and Orange County are all invited to participate!

Merit badges that can be earned this year at the Long Beach Sea Base Aquatics Summer Day Camp are: Electricity, Electronics, Radio, Plumbing, Painting, Home Repairs, American Heritage, Scouting Heritage, First Aid, Emergency Preparedness, Public Speaking, Music, Citizen of the Nation, Citizen of the World, Motorboating, Swimming, Kayaking, Arts and Crafts, Weather, Oceanography, Soil and Water Conservation, Fish and Wildlife Management, Entrepreneurship, Photography, Family Life, Communications, Fishing, Environmental Science, Personal Management, Pioneering, Cinematography, Small Boat Sailing, BSA Lifeguard... Deep breath... Not all in the same week, of course.

Scouts from any council are welcome to the Sea Base to get their boost on their way to Eagle!

Here is a pretty awesome video about the Sea Base fun.
