Celebrities Find Their Family Chi at LEGOLAND's Legends of Chima Waterpark

Just in time to kick off the summer festivities, LEGOLAND celebrates the opening of the Legends of Chima waterpark.

From the LEGO.com website:
"CHI is an ultra-potent natural resource that flows through the Sacred Waters of Chima, giving life and energy to much of the Kingdom. It contains the raw power of nature in a condensed form, and, under the right conditions, releases that power for use by the citizens of Chima."
On Friday, I attended the opening ceremonies for the LEGOLAND Legends of Chima water park, sponsored by Cartoon Network which produces the Legends of Chima TV show.  Celebrities were everywhere.  They'd received a special invitation to join in the fun, and those with children... and those who were children... were coming!  For one day, it was their own private LEGOLAND Water Park.  Hey, I'd go!

I must admit that I've not been to many celebrity events, and that most celebrities look like regular people to me.  I thought that surely I would recognize Mayim Bialik of “The Big Bang Theory”, which I watch quite a bit.  I knew I would recognize Jadon Sand from "The LEGO Movie".  Several Padres team members were expected.

I sat down near the build-a-boat waterway and observed for a moment.  I chatted with the folks next to me and they mentioned that they were parents of Xolo Mariduena of the TV show Parenthood

It came to me as I observed.  When else would they have this private time to spend with their families and friends at LEGOLAND, in the new Legends of Chima water park?  So I knew what I wanted to do... Find the young stars who cared to say a few words to me.  Some of them would know the value of talking to me.  Still, how does one determine who's famous without being intrusive?  In my traditional blundering way, I tried the "Are you famous?" approach.  It worked until it didn't.  I had some awkward interactions with some young stars.  I was really glad to see Jadon Sand's now-familiar face.  I'd seen him at the opening of the LEGO Movie Experience.  Here he sings "Everything is Awesome."

I spoke to a few others, notably August Maturo who will be a regular in Disney's upcoming series Girl meets World, premiering June 27th on the Disney Channel.

The next time... I will have three faces to recognize.

In the videos I share some of the fun.  Maybe you can help me to identify some of the young stars in the video.  Enjoy!

I left shortly after the opening ceremonies.  I wanted these young newsworthy folks to have their private time in the park.  It was their reason for coming, after all.

As for me, I never go to LEGOLAND without visiting the Clubhouse and Friend Renate (who worked for LEGOLAND even before it opened).  The Clubhouse is conveniently located near to the entrance to the Water Park.  You see, I'm working on building a large American Flag in LEGO bricks and it's hard to find all the right pieces at the LEGO stores.  I thought I might be able to find 1x1 white tiles and plates at LEGOLAND.  I love to dig through the bins of mixed bricks in the clubhouse and find some treasures to buy.  Special parts.  I found lots of great pieces, so I'll post a photo of them also so you can drool.

Here are some new cool happenings at LEGOLAND that I encountered last Friday.

  • Legends of Chima Waterpark is now open to the public!  Great new spaces and especially a wave pool and Cragger's Swamp play area!
  • In the clubhouse, there was a new LEGO Trivia game where you can win LEGO posters, buttons and Chima sets!  Hint. Go through the factory tour and read the LEGO Facts posted on the wall before you play the game!
  • At the entrance to the Factory was a mosaic made by last year's LEGOLAND Ambassador members.  Check out the famous faces in the mosaics!
