The Grant Writing: Lemonade Day
When life gives you lemons, make Community Lemonade in Long Beach with me. Day 53 - I worked on a grant for equipment for a Makerspace I will find.
. I'm taking the opportunity of this unplanned time off to connect with the many artists and creators in this wonderful city that I love. Come with me on my 100-day odyssey of art and creativity in Long Beach. I call it .
Yesterday we saw the results of the grant writing done by the Arts Council for Long Beach. Today I have an appointment to work on another grant.
August 23rd was Day 53. I completed a grant application for some equipment for a Maker Space.

Grants are hard work. I've been visualizing some equipment for the Maker Spaces I will find, and met up with a grant champion to put some of it together into the right format.
It's a flurry of financial data and program budgets, of prioritizing and re-prioritizing. Of working into the wee hours of the morning.

It's a little grant, but little grants are important. They can be the validation of an effort, the little something needed to get things started. The impetus to start the ball rolling. The writing of the grant itself requires you to prioritize the project needs. To think big then smaller, resizing the project until it is just right.
Will it be successful? I hope so, but even if it isn't, the time spent writing is not wasted.

And Tomorrow...
I really will talk a bit more about the Arts Council for Long Beach. I went to a lovely meeting and met some really cool people.
