Pepsi Refresh Grant: The Other Five $50K Leaders in the Top 10 Category. By Trish Tsoi-a-Sue

Pepsi Refresh Grant - Should I keep shouting, emailing, facebooking and asking random strangers to vote? Should I keep asking them to text* 109826 to Pepsi (73774) to vote from their mobile phones?

Yesterday I started doing some recon into the top ten leaders of the Pepsi Refresh 50K voting grant.  I really just want to know if I should keep shouting, emailing, Facebooking and asking random strangers to vote to Put a new community kitchen in at the BSA Sea Base?  Should I keep asking them to text* 109826 to Pepsi (73774) to vote from their mobile phones?

I mean, if they are getting millions of votes daily, do I even have a chance?  Entering the contest seemed like a good idea.

The results of my investigation into the top 5 showed that there are some real go-getters out there... baking cookies... giving away iPads...  Getting their dogs to do the asking... Do I have what it takes to get this grant even to #10?

#6/ Keep Kids Involved - New Instruments for Dobie HS Band.

Submitted by the band director, this will get the band new instruments.  It gives instructions on the three ways to vote... THREE WAYS?  There was also some information on the # of votes that last month's winners got... over 17K votes each!  Finally! A number to aim for!

#7/ Put up a new Playground for Kids in our community.

St. Mary's School, Swormville NY.  This is a pretty networked school judging from their Facebook page.  Their story was also carried by http://www.wgrz.com, which turns out to be the website for the Buffalo NBC station.  THAT should get them a few votes!

#8/ Purchase a van to transport persons with disabilities & service dogs.

GAP Service Dogs has both a Facebook AND a twitter account.  There are also the usual requests for votes on their Facebook site.  A poster that says NEVER, NEVER, NEVER GIVE UP!!!  But wait... what's this?  Many requests to vote for Molly's Adopt A Sailor entry in the Chase Community Giving voting.  The comments on one of those requests.  : coming in for you pups "hold tight ---I wont let you fall if i can help it !! I just called in the troops :)"  THEY'RE CALLING IN THE TROOPS?

#9/ Put a roof over us so we stay dry while helping people grow and learn!

Community Learning Center.

#10/ Help all of us kids get to Washington DC for a Competition!

Lindsey HS, CO.  Three programs (choir, band, orchestra) working together to get to DC for a competition.  No Facebook, no twitter but yes, a lot of friend power... Team up with other groups to make the grant submission.

So... now that I've seen the competition, do I want to continue?  I'll take a word from the GAP Service Dogs Facebook page.  NEVER, NEVER, NEVER GIVE UP!!!

Next up: Revised campaign.
