How do you win a $50K Pepsi Refresh voting grant?
That is the question I've asked myself when I've awakened every day since November 5. It was that night that I realized that the submission I'd made for a Pepsi Refresh voting grant for a new kitchen at the Long Beach Scout Sea Base was in the running!

1. Email your friends. Suddenly it became very important to regain a presence with everyone I knew! I frantically went through my email inbox and emailed everyone I knew!

2. Learn about social networking ... quickly! I immediately learned that I needed to befriend Facebook.
I had an account, but it was not something I used often!
3. Learn to sing ... or tweet! I must confess that I am slow on the uptake with Twitter, but I hear that it's a great way to get a daily message out. I don't have a twitter account, but CAN EVERYONE PLEASE HELP ME BY TWEETING THE MESSAGE OUT FROM THEIR ACCOUNT?
4. Make new friends. It suddenly became very important for me to have a HUGE community to work with.
5. Engage your community leaders, whether they respond or not.
6. Identify your Communities and Team Up! I found out that there is another $50K grant in the running from Long Beach for free after school sports.
