A Block Printing Gift Arrives: Lemonade Day

When life gives you lemons, make Community Lemonade in Long Beach with me. Day 47 - It's fun to get letters in the mail, it's even more fun to get packages with surprises!

. I'm taking the opportunity of this unplanned time off to connect with the many artists and creators in this wonderful city that I love. Come with me on my 100-day odyssey of art and creativity in Long Beach. I call it .

I'd been wanting to do some block printing, and only had two tiny bottles of paint that I'd gotten with an as yet unused Yudu screen printer.  had clued me in to Speedball inks.  I knew Lisa Hernandez at the Depot for Creative Reuse would help me if she had any, but I didn't see any at the store.  was on the lookout, but I'd asked her for opened containers.  I was trying to figure out what I could do with two tiny bottles and a bunch of crayons... So I was thrilled when on , the folks at Speedball told me they would love to send me a package!  Yippee!

August 17th was Day 47.  A gift from Speedball arrived in the mail.

The folks at Speedball must be reading about Lemonade, because they knew exactly what to send me!  Here's what came in the package today:

  • Speedball Ultimate Fabric and Paper Block Printing Kit - This is a great kit!  It contains both black and white inks, a brayer, a carving block, a printing plate, an instructional DVD and more!
  • Our Favorite Printing Methods instructional pamphlet
  • Speedball Block Printing - A How to Guide for non-toxic, easy to learn,Speedball printmaking techniques.
  • Speedball Fabric and Paper 6-pack of ink.  Black, green, white, red, yellow, blue.
  • A Speedball Catalog.  It reads: Trusted Art Products, Handcrafted in America. Nice.

I'm excited now! Friend Mary comes to visit next week.  I wanted to try things out with her, but I suspect that I may take a stab at it before she comes!

Tidbits, Things, Trails

  • The back to school supplies are purchased.  Now we need uniforms.
  • We had some fun with the signs at the store, thinking of funny places to put the various signs: Restroom signs, Wash hands before returning to work, No Parking, Employees must wash hands.
