U.S. Water Polo Team Beats Argentina

With one of two Long Beach players out, the national team still grabs victory.

The U.S. men's national water polo team, including two Long Beach players, defeated Argentina, 14-8, in its final exhibition game before beginning the UANA World Aquatics Championship Qualification Tournament Wednesday in Calgary, Alberta.

Defender Jesse Smith -- one of the four players on the U.S. team that
also played on the team that finished eighth at the London Olympics -- scored
three goals in competition at Northwood High School in Irvine Saturday.

Fellow 2012 Olympian Jeff Powers scored twice, as did Greg Enloe and
Nikola Vavic of Rancho Palos Verdes. Center Ryan Bailey, a 2012 Olympian from Long Beach, scored once. Chay Lapin, Long Beach's second player on the 13-man team, did not play.
