This Southern California native, who earned his nickname surfing the shores of Huntington Beach in the 1960s and founded the first varsity high school surf team in the country, now teaches people to surf in Maryland, of all places, according to the Washington Post.
Bruce “Snake” Gabrielson, who created the varsity surf team at Huntington Beach High School and a team at Cal State Long Beach, opened a surf shop in Chesapeake Beach, MD in 1981. (read more here...)
