Bike Path Fun Run Promotes Child Fitness

More than 100 kids and adults took part in the 5k and 100 youths ran the 1k Sunday morning on the coast of Belmont Shore to spread the word about fitness and combating childhood obesity.

What a spectacular morning it was for the great time had by all the fit participants in the lively Super Kids Sunday Fun Run along the Belmont Shore Bike Path. Beginning at the Granada boat launch, runners, walkers and a few dogs hit the trail, most if not all finishing the events.

The Super Kids Sunday 5K and Fun Run was sponsored by the UC Irvine Pediatrics Residents and Miller Children's Hospital Long Beach to raise awareness on childhood obesity, and promote a day of fitness and wellness for people of all ages.

The Pediatric Residents from the University of California Irvine hosted this exciting event that featured a Health, Nutrition, and Fitness Expo at the race finish. The Health, Nutrition and Fitness Expo was created just for kids and their families, with interactive displays that showed ways to eat smart and to make staying fit fun.
