Meet Summer Camp Providers - And Patch - Today

Join us this morning as we check out water sports, arts and science fun and bring your skateboards!

Sunday morning's here and it's time for parents and kids to check out the array of local summer camp opportunities at the 5th annual Lowell Summer Camp Fair from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

It's a fun and easy way for the whole family to check out some of the adventures and operators right in our neighborhood. The camp fair is how I first learned about a terrific marine biology camp on the water, as well as sports activities. The great thing is that my family could get a personal feel of the camp and people in just an hour or two. Plus it was a lot of fun (and none of the camps resembles the one in the classic summer camp movie, "Meatballs.")

And while you're there you can also meet your local Patch editor.  (A few of our bloggers are camp providers or fair organizers. More details at the end).

The easy-going event is on playground. The school address is 5201 E. Broadway, but the playground is near the corner of Monrovia and Vista.

The LowellPTA.com newsletter says: "Face painting! Balloon artist! Camp Stamp Trail prizes! Skate clinic (bring your skateboard!) Music & dance demos! Earth Day activities!"

From neighborhood academic and sport camps to mountain sleep-aways and waterfront athletics, camp providers will be on hand to talk about their programs and meet you. Most of them will have pictures and brochures to offer you, and other fun for kids. Families come from Belmont Shore, Belmont Heights, Naples and from outside Long Beach to learn in one or two hours all you need to know for your choices.

It's free. It's fun--face painters and a playground for younger youngsters, lots to look at for older kids who want a bigger role in choosing their weekday life for up to 50 days of summer.

And we at Patch are proud to say that the founder five years ago was our own blogger, Patricia Tsoi-a-Sue. She will now be an exhibitor/vendor at the event run by others in the award-winning Lowell PTA.

Below is a list of most of the vendors attending this year's summer camp fair and its also attached here in pdf form.

And please stop by for a quick hello from me, the editor of Belmont Shore-Naples Patch, and other contributors, at our kelly green Patch table at the fair. Again, for all new subscribers (while supplies last), we will give you an earth-friendly washable canvas tote to carry around all the camp brochures you will surely gather, and use it for grocery shopping!

We would really love to meet current faithful subscribers and new ones so stop by and say hello. See you there!
