Fourth Graders Spend a Day Working on 2nd Street

Lowell students this week will be serving as 'Merchants for a Day' with Belmont Shore businesses, learning on-the-job in one of the most popular neighborhood traditions of the school year.

Perhaps the person handing you a Belmont gym towel was a bit shorter, or the Powell's candy store clerk seemed a bit sugar-high-chatty - on account of the free samples that come with the job.

The 2013 Lowell Elementary School Merchant for a Day was in full swing Wednesday, and dozens of fourth graders have been enjoying the chance to spend time behind the counter with Bemont Shore's business community since Tuesday. The annual learn-on-the-job event has become so popular that it has been spread out over four days. So you may be helped or served by a student today through Friday, parent organizers said.

If you are participating as a parent, student, Belmont Shore Business Association member or employee, please upload your photos and share with the whole community. It is fast and easy under Upload Photos and Videos below.
