Architecture at an Urban Farm

Panel discussion and kids crafts starting at 10 a.m. followed by tour of urban farm, The Growing Experience. Lunch served at 11:30 a.m. featuring sustainable and local foods. For those interested in local, sustainable food and exploring role of architecture in urban farm design. Kids crafts will be with recycled materials.

Presenters include: Michael Bohn, Studio One Eleven; Kathleen Irvine, New City School; Jimmy Ng, The Growing Experience; Jeffrey Biben, architect of Carmelitos Urban Gardens (on grounds of The Growing Experience).

Tickets: $15 for members of AIA and the U.S. Green Building Council; $20 non-members; children ages 12 and under are free.

The Growing Experience is a 7-acre urban farm within the Carmelitos Housing Development, which is operated by the Housing Authority of the County of Los Angeles. Vegetables and fruits are made available through the Community Supported Agriculture Program.
