New Book Praises Long Beach Unified School District
The district is recognized for its curriculum, parent involvement, student and academic success.
The Long Beach Unified School District is praised in the recently published book "Renewal: Remaking America's Schools for the 21st Century."
The book, which is available for purchase online, references the district more than 30 times for its exemplary practices.
"Long Beach, Brownsville and Aldine have simply made it their mission that every child will learn," said author Harold Kwalwasser, former general counsel for the Los Angeles Unified School District.
Kawlwasser evaluated 40 high-performing districts from throughout the United States to understand their practices.
The book discusses Long Beach's curriculum, community partnerships, school choice program, parent involvement and professional development for teachers.
LBUSD's efficiency is also praised, with Kawlwasser mentioning that Long Beach students achieve better academically compared to students from other districts.
