Sascha Bos, Wilson Senior, on Pizza Night

A Bos Family Tradition

For at least a year, my family and I have been making pizza every Friday night. It's easy, delicious, and brings us all into the kitchen. It's one of my favorite family dinners, and Pizza Night could easily turn into a way to make friends at college.

The easiest way to do this is to head down to Z-Pizza for their freshly-made dough (an extra-large makes 4-5 individual pizzas). After pre-heating the oven to 450, my dad rolls out the dough and sets the pizzas on cookie sheets lined with parchment paper. Next, we brush a little bit of olive oil around the edges. Then it's time to visit the topping bar! Here are our family favorites:

Sascha: tomato sauce, shredded mozzarella, black forrest ham, pear, pine nuts, and a few leftover roasted potatoes.

Collin: mozzarella, pepperoni, pear, and pine nuts.

Mom: cheese, pine nuts, potatoes, and an egg (after the pizza has been baking for a few minutes, create a hollow space in the middle with the back of a spoon and crack an egg in it; take your pizza out when the yolk is still runny but the white is solid). When her pizza is done, she tops it with fresh wild arugula.

Dad: tomato sauce, ham, sauteed mushrooms, cheese, an egg, and arugula.

When my boyfriend Kyle comes over for Pizza Night, he likes the same thing as Collin, but with the addition of ham and potatoes.

To add to the Italian atmosphere, drink San Pelligrino  Aranciata (Italian orange soda) and listen to Puccini. We like to play a post-pizza game (last Friday was Apples to Apples).

Buon appetito!
