Win Free Airlines Tickets at Good Neighbor Festival

In addition to bringing neighbors together, a community event will also give them the chance to get away from it all with a drawing for two roundtrip Jet Blue airline tickets at the Good Neighbor Park from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday.

The Good Neighbor Festival and Picnic was started “six years ago to celebrate the wonderful people and organizations that make the 5th Council District a ‘good neighborhood’” said the event’s sponsor Coucilwoman Gerrie Schipske, 5th District, in a statement. 

To win the airline tickets or any of several other prizes, attendees must get Good Neighbor Cards stamped at the festival’s community organization booths, like the Aquarium of the Pacific and the Long Beach Museum of Art.

“Once you have visited at least 16 booths you are eligible for an opportunity ticket that will be dropped in a box. Participants who visit 20 booths get two tickets; visiting 24 booths gets three tickets,” Schipske said.  

Prizes can also be won by entering an online photo contest by submitting pictures that showcase the theme, “What I Like About My Good Neighborhood”, with entries to be displayed during the festival.

The chance of winning free stuff isn’t the only fun awaiting the more than 1,000 guests expected at the event that honors local individuals and organizations with awards.  

A performance by the Elm St. Band, free hot dogs and veggie burgers courtesy of the Long Beach Fire and Police Associations and a watermelon eating contest are part of planned festivities.

“This year is bigger and better with music, food, games, fire and police equipment, a refrigerator container from the Port of Long Beach, watermelon eating, more than 40 community organization exhibits, great prizes and of course, our Good Neighbor Awardees.”

A car seat safety check will also take place during the festival.

Those hoping to win the Jet Blue Airline Tickets have to stick around till 3 p.m., when the winners will be announced: the Good Neighbor Cards are due by 2 p.m.
