Traffic Slowing Across Long Beach Expected Tonight
Through Tuesday morning, an over-sized load of equipment aboard a truck bound for East Long Beach may clog intersections from the harbor to Haynes Power Plant.
Beginning at 10 p.m., a large trailer truck will be used to deliver heavy equipment from the Port of Long Beach to the Department of Water and Power's Haynes Generating Station in Long Beach, meaning motorists in the area could encounter delays.
The truck, which will be escorted by the California Highway Patrol, will be driven from Pier F in the Port of Long Beach along Pico Avenue north to Anaheim Street, where it will head east to southbound Pacific Coast Highway, then east on Second Street to the plant near the San Gabriel River.

The equipment will be used as part of a project to replace two aging generators and change the plant's cooling system from ocean water to dry cooling. The equipment is expected to reach the plant by 2 a.m.
