Pico Offramp to be Closed Until Sunday Night

Closure is prompted by construction, the Port of Long Beach said.

The Pico Avenue exit from southbound Harbor Scenic Drive at the 710 Freeway in the Port of Long Beach will be closed this weekend.

The exit is scheduled to close from 7 a.m. Saturday until 8 p.m. Sunday, Daniel Yi of the Port of Long Beach Media Relations Department said in a statement.

The off-ramp, known as the Pier F, G Pico Avenue exit, will close to allow crews from Southern California Edison to drive piles to be used as footing for new transmission poles, Yi said.

The poles will bring more electricity to the port that can be used as a ``source of clean energy for ships at berth,'' Yi said. Vehicles entering the Port will be able to exit at the Harbor Plaza/Harbor Scenic off-ramp and then turn right onto Harbor Plaza in order to get to Pico Avenue, according to Yi.
