Except this parade weekend, Belmont Shore parking meters will be free throughout weekends in December, and merchants are hosting events to encourage people to shop local this season.
To entice people to shop local this holiday season, the two-hour parking meters in Belmont Shore will be free during the weekends of Dec. 8-9, Dec. 15-16 and Dec. 22-23.
However, the meters will not be free this weekend.
On Saturday, Dec. 1, The Beach on 2nd Street (5308 E. 2nd Street) will host a fifth anniversary celebration between noon and 4 p.m. Refreshments will be served, and there will be exclusive promotions and surprise guests.
Also on Dec. 1, there will be the "A Winter Wonderland" event. Narly two dozen Bixby Knolls businesses will offer exclusive discounts and entertainment. A list of participating businesses can be found at bixbyknollsinfo.com.
The holiday-themed First Friday event will take place on Dec. 7. There will be carolers, a tree lighting and more.
On Dec. 8, there will be a "BK Shop Hop," in which customers can participate in a bingo-like game and win prizes for visiting participating businesses.
