Livingston Drive Construction Resumes Monday

Construction will last several weeks as crews work to improve Livingston Drive.

A repavement project set to resume Monday on the north side of Livingston Drive between Termino Avenue and Second Street will last for several weeks, according to city officials.

Part of ongoing improvements to Livingston Drive, the removal and replacement of concrete began August 20 on the south side of Livingston and is expected to take two more weeks. New construction set to start Monday on the north side the median island on Livingston Drive will require an estimated four weeks to complete.

While roads will remain open, motorists and pedestrians are advised to use alternate routes when possible, and cyclists are encouraged to use the Beach Bicycle Path.

Upcoming tentative dates for repaving include September 10, when a two-week repaving project will commence on the south side of Livingston Drive’s median. That will be followed September 12 by the start of 5-week project to construct a raised median that will feature landscaping and seperate a new protected service road.

Final portions of the improvements are planned for the fall, with an asphalt overlay scheduled for the middle of October and the delivery of traffic signal poles planned later on in November.

Other improvements include increasing the sidewalk on eastbound Livingston Drive from four feet to eight feet wide and installing a new traffic signal at Ximeno Avenue.

Crews will also work on traffic signals, underground conduits, storm drain structures and landscaping during the repavement of Livingston Drive, according to an announcement by city officials.
