Long Beach Criminal Cases Coming This Week

Several stories that we've followed are finding their way to the Long Beach Courthouse in coming days. Here is a short list.

Here are a few of the court hearings coming up this week that involve Long Beach crimes, most of which we've covered previously.

Tuesday:

LONG BEACH - A preliminary hearing date is scheduled to be set for Jacob Timothy Lagarde, who is accused of throwing a Molotov cocktail at a man in Long Beach and critically wounding him. Long Beach Courthouse.

Wednesday:

8:30 a.m. LONG BEACH - A pretrial hearing is scheduled for Martell Nathaniel Chubbs, who is charged with the 1977 murder of a teenage mother found dead in her Long Beach home two days after Christmas, her baby propped against her. Dept. E, Long Beach Courthouse.

Thursday

8:30 a.m. LONG BEACH - Further proceedings are scheduled for Anthony Glen Gorospe, who is accused of shooting a Long Beach code enforcement officer in the face and then holding police at bay for about seven hours. Dept. J, Long Beach Courthouse.

8:30 a.m. LONG BEACH - A pretrial hearing is scheduled for Kevin Darnell Pearson, one of three men convicted of raping and murdering a woman whose nude body was found on a freeway embankment in Long Beach in 1998. The California Supreme Court reversed his death sentence in January 2012. Long Beach Courthouse.
