Belmont Shore to Implement Taxi Cab Line
Plan by Councilman DeLong's office might help ease parking shortages and drunk driving starting Aug. 1.
Belmont Shore will soon have a taxi cab line on Second Street to protect its citizens and spread awareness about alternative forms of transportation, it was confirmed Wednesday.
Updated to correct the need for any approval or special permit.
As reported in the Gazettes chain, the project also aims to lessen traffic woes and is supported and put together by Third District Councilman Gary DeLong and Long Beach Yellow Cab.

The taxi cab line would be in effect Aug. 1, said Joseph D. Toney of DeLong's office. There would be special parking spots for taxi drivers outside Chase Bank during evening hours well onto 3 a.m. in the morning Thursdays-Saturdays, Toney said. He said no conditional use permit or special license would need approval.
DeLong was out of the office Wednesday afternoon and not available for further details.
