47th Congressional Candidates Forum Tonight

Most or all of the candidates are expected at the Rogers Middle School Auditorium.

The Belmont Heights Community Association and the League of Women Voters of Long Beach will be hosting a candidate’s forum Thursday for the re-districted 47th Congressional District.

Seven of the eight candidates are planning to attend the event, including Gary DeLong, Alan Lowenthal, Steve Kuykendall and Jay Shah.

The 47th District covers large segments of Long Beach, Los Alamitos, Rossmoor, parts of Orange County and Catalina Island.

The top two vote-getters in the June 5 primary election will advance to the Nov. 6 general election regardless of party preference or whether one candidate receives a majority of votes in the primary. There is no incumbent in the 47th Congressional District race.

The primary election will include elections for U.S. President, the U.S. Senate, the U.S. House of Representatives, as well as state Senate and state Assembly seats.

The forum will take place at the Rogers Middle School Auditorium located at 365 Monrovia Ave. The event will run from 7 to 9 p.m.
