Woman Gunned Down in Long Beach Identified

Police said the 31-year-old Long Beach woman was shot to death but the motive remains elusive.

The woman found shot to death on a Long Beach sidewalk was identified Wednesday as a 31-year-old Long Beach resident, but police said the motive for the murder remains unknown.

Officers arrived to the location on Cherry Avenue at about 11:40 p.m. Tuesday and found Samantha Hollis laying on the sidewalk, said the Long Beach Police Department in a news release. It said the Long Beach Fire Department declared the woman dead at the scene, the victim of an upper body wound.
