Two men were ordered today to stand trial in the beating death of a 41-year-old man in Long Beach last summer.

Long Beach Superior Court Judge Tomson T. Ong found sufficient evidence to require Shawn Halloran, 23, and Marcus Word, 38, to proceed to trial on murder and burglary charges, according to Deputy District Attorney Carol Rose.

The two are charged in the Aug. 6, 2013, killing of Albert Carl Jr., 41, at a home in the 700 block of Via Wanda.

Authorities have not disclosed a motive for the attack.

Halloran and Word were arrested the following day by Long Beach police. They have remained jailed since then.

Along with the murder and burglary counts, Halloran was ordered to stand trial on three drug-related counts, the prosecutor said.

The two are due back in court for arraignment March 28.

If they are found guilty then they too should be put in an arena and beat to death. No appeals, not with all of the hi tech and DNA around today.
