Three Shot in Long Beach's Bixby Knolls

Day after a Friday night shooting involving two groups, three more people are wounded Saturday.

Three people were shot in a possibly gang-related attack at Long Beach's Cherry Avenue Park and were hospitalized Sunday as police detectives searched for their attackers.

Gunfire in the park at Cherry Avenue and 45th Street was reported about 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Long Beach police spokeswoman Nancy Pratt said.

The group attacked was wrapping up a barbecue. The park is north of Long Beach Airport and mapquest showed the address to be Bixby Knolls.

``The suspect approached and shot three individuals,'' Pratt said. Wounded were two males and a female, she said. One was said to be in serious condition, and the other two were reported to have stable vital signs.

Their names were unavailable early today. A description of the shooter was not made available.
