Special Olympics Tip-A-Cop Comes to Claim Jumper

Long Beach police officers will be serving diners Thursday, and all tips will go to the group, which helps Southern California Special Olympians to compete, build confidence and pride.

Uniformed police officers from several agencies will be serving diners Thursday evening at Claim Jumper in The Marketplace in Long Beach, where all tips go to Special Olympics of Southern California.

In September at the same Claim Jumper, $1,625 was raised for the non-profit by 12 officers from Long Beach and Signal Hill police departments and four Long Beach Explorers, said a LBPD spokeswoman. That was about $400 an hour.

Thursday, The officers will be back at the Claim Jumper from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. waiting tables, and asking for the public to dine there and 'Tip-A-Cop' to help Special Olympians.
