A beach maintenance crew member collecting trash in a small truck struck an individual on the beach today.
The victim was on the ground when he was hit on the beach between 54th and 55th Place about 9 a.m., said Ed Kamlan of the Long Beach City Manager's Office.
The fire department took the person to a hospital.
