Six Arrested in Shootings at Khoury's Restaurant

Long Beach police early Thursday jailed the suspects in the October shooting of a man and woman at the Marina Drive eatery.

Police today arrested six suspects for their alleged roles in an Oct. 2 shooting at a Long Beach restaurant in which a man and a woman suffered non life-threatening wounds.

Police apprehended a woman and five men after serving five search warrants in Long Beach and another in Carson. Authorities also confiscated two handguns, some electronic equipment, a large amount of marijuana, money and gang paraphernalia, the Long Beach Police Department said.

Officers also seized two vehicles, said Nancy Pratt, a spokesperson for the Long Beach Police Department. Pratt said the suspects were booked on charges that included attempted murder, aiding and abetting, receiving stolen property, possession of marijuana for sales, cultivation of marijuana and gang member in possession of a firearm.

She said the six suspects allegedly were involved in the shooting at a restaurant in the 100 block of Marina Drive where a 31-year-old man was standing out front when he was approached by a group of gang members. An argument grew into a fight and during the altercation one of the suspects reportedly pulled out a handgun and shot the man once in the upper body.

Pratt said a 31-year-old woman was shot in the lower body. Police were dispatched to the scene at 1:08 a.m. Paramedics took the man and woman to an area hospital, where they were treated for non life-threatening injuries.

None of the six people arrested and jailed were identified by Long Beach police.
