Updated at 2:36 p.m.: A robbery at a Farmers & Merchants Bank branch in Long Beach Tuesday triggered lockdowns at two nearby schools, authorities said.
The heist occurred about 12:25 p.m. at 2302 Bellflower Blvd., said Laura Eimiller of the FBI.
Officials locked down nearby Prisk Elementary at 2375 Fanwood Ave. and Stanford Middle School at 5871 Los Arcos St. as a precaution while a search for the suspect was conducted, the Long Beach Unified School District reported.
The lockdowns were lifted at 1:30 p.m., said LBUSD spokesman Chris Eftychiou.
Authorities said the robber, who appeared to be in his 50s, was wearing gray clothing and a gray bandanna over his face. It was unclear if he was armed, Eimiller said.
