Update: Robbery of Two Women in Belmont Shore

The victims were held up at gunpoint at Nieto Avenue Tuesday night, Long Beach police say.

Two men forcibly robbed two women Tuesday night on Second Street in Belmont Shore, Long Beach Police Chief Jim McDonnell disclosed Thursday afternoon in an e-mail round-up of city crimes. The roundup is always generic and not intended to offer details.

Asked by Patch for details, Long Beach Police Department spokeswoman Nancy Pratt responded swiftly, in seven minutes, with the following e-mail:

"On 3/13/12 at approx. 10:15 p.m., (2) adult females were walking in the 100 block of Nieto Avenue when they were approached by (2) male suspects
- At least one of the suspects was armed with a firearm
- The suspects threatened the victims and demanded they hand over personal items, which included currency and electronics
- The suspects then fled in a vehicle
- The suspects were described as two males, both with a dark complexion and 18 to 20 years of age, one approx. 6' tall, and the other approx. 5' 7" tall
- No one was injured

The victims were not described beyond being female, and the same went for the suspects--no description or details. The type of property was not described or mentioned, nor any circumstances involved.

The crimes occurred at Nieto Avenue and Second Street about 10 p.m. Tuesday, the Chief's Daily Briefing noted.
