Police Seek Help in Hit-Run at Broadway and Loma

Officers find a young woman badly injured in Belmont Heights and have descriptions of the car.

Since the evening of the accident, investigators have obtained an image of the suspect vehicle from a surveillance camera in the area. The image shows the suspect vehicle leaving the scene, and it is possibly a 4-door Lexus or Toyota, and possibly silver in color. 

Investigators are releasing this photo of the suspect vehicle and asking the public’s help in locating it and it’s owner, as well as asking anyone who may have witnessed this inThis past Saturday, July 16, 2011, Long Beach Police Department officers discovered a 24-year-old female lying beneath a parked car. A preliminary investigation has revealed that the victim, a resident of Long Beach, was struck by a vehicle, which subsequently fled the scene.

The victim's name was not released, and it was not clear how she came to be beneath a parked car.

 At around 1:50 a.m. officers responded to an injury hit-and-run collision in the 3600 block of Broadway, which is right near Loma and two blocks East of Redondo Avenue. It was not clear who reported the collision.

The preliminary investigation showed that the fleeing vehicle was a “light-colored, four-door vehicle, possibly a small sedan.” The compact vehicle is said to have been traveling westbound on Broadway continued on its path after the collision, traveling a short distance before its last reported appearance turning northbound on Loma Avenue.

Paramedics moved the victim to a local hospital; she remains in critical condition.
