Police Checkpoint in West Long Beach Tonight

Officers will be looking for Intoxicated and unlicensed drivers.

Police will be conduct a driving-under-the influence/drivers license checkpoint tonight (Feb. 19) from 6:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m. Sunday somewhere in west Long Beach.

Traffic volume and weather permitting, all vehicles may be checked and drivers who are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs will be arrested by the Long Beach Police Department. The objective is to drive home the message: “Drunk driving -- over the limit, under arrest.”  The public is encouraged to help keep roadways safe by calling 9-1-1 if they see a suspected impaired driver.

In an effort to reduce the number of persons killed and injured in alcohol involved collisions, DUI checkpoints are conducted to identify offenders, get them off the street, and to educate the public on the dangers of driving while impaired, as well as to ensure drivers have a valid driver license.
