Long Beach Police Officer Injured in Collision

The crash occurred near the intersection of Santa Fe Avenue and 28th Street, department says.

A Long Beach Police Department officer suffered moderate injuries Monday in a collision involving a patrol car and a civilian vehicle.

The collision occurred at 6:20 p.m. at Santa Fe Avenue and 28th Street, said Nancy Pratt of the Long Beach Police Department.

The civilian was driving westbound on 28th Street, trying to cross Santa Fe Avenue. The driver made a left turn to go south on Santa Fe Avenue when the vehicle collided with the patrol car.

The other driver was uninjured, Pratt said. The cause of the collision was under investigation, Pratt said.
