Pedestrian Killed in Wednesday Hit-Run is Identified

The victim of a hit-and-run vehicle was named by Long Beach police Thursday.

A pedestrian who was struck and killed by a hit-and-run vehicle in downtown Long Beach was identified Thursday as 24-year-old Serena Medina of Long Beach.

A second person, whose age and gender were not released, was hospitalized with unspecified injuries, Long Beach police Sgt. Aaron Eaton said.

According to the preliminary investigation, the victims were among a group of people when some type of altercation occurred, and were hit at Third Street and Pine Avenue about 1:45 a.m. Wednesday by a vehicle that left the scene, Eaton said.

A description of the hit-and-run vehicle was not immediately released.
