Officer's Case of Sex Crimes With Minors Delayed

Long Beach suspended officer Noe Yates faces charges ranging from molestation and intercourse to providing alcohol and false imprisonment.

The arraignment of Long Beach policeman Noe Yanez, who is charged with 39 felonies involving sexual acts with 13 female minors, was postponed this week. It is now scheduled for June 30.

Yanez remains in Los Angeles County Jail in lieu of bail, which was set at $951,000. At the hearing scheduled for Wednesday, Yanez, 40, was to answer to the 39 felonies and additional misdemeanors for which he's been charged in a criminal complaint.

Part of the June hearing will involve a review of the bail amount. Yanez posted bail following the first of two arrests by his employer, the Long Beach Police Department.

The department first April 19 on charges of possessing child pornography and contacting a minor for inappropriate photos. He was jailed, posted bail, and earlier this month he was arrested again.

This time, the charges were numerous and 13 girls were named in the complaint as victims of molestation, of being approached by the officer, who met the alleged victims as part of his job. It has not been disclosed what his assigment had been.
