Ocean Boulevard Groping Suspect Arrested

A woman walking near Ximeno Saturday morning reports a man grabbed her from behind. Officers nab a suspect a few blocks way.

A Long Beach woman was groped Saturday morning as she walked near Ocean Boulevard, and police say officers flooded the area and arrested a suspect who turned out to be a registered sex offender.

Daydrain Williams, 33, of Long Beach, allegedly grabbed the woman from behind and made a lewd gesture near Ocean Boulevard and Ximeno Avenue about 9 a.m. Saturday, said Long Beach police Sgt. Rico Fernandez. Williams, who was arrested about four blocks away, is a registered sex offender, Fernandez said.

He said the suspect was booked on suspicion of assault and jailed in lieu of $20,000 bail. Police responding to the woman's report flooded the area and found Williams, Fernandez said, adding that the woman identified Williams as her attacker.
