Missing 82-Year-Old Long Beach Man Found

Police announce Tuesday late afternoon that the Alzheimer's sufferer has been located safe.

An 82-year-old missing Long Beach man has been found, and the woman who had been caring for him delivered him to a Long Beach Fire Department station in good health, police said Tuesday evening.

Jose Salazar of North Long Beach left his home on Friday morning and was last seen hours later in Signal Hill, said Long Beach Police Department spokeswoman Nancy Pratt, who e-mailed an update and thank you to media who publicized the man's situation.

It turned out that Salazar, who suffers early Alzheimer's symptoms and requires medication, befriended the woman, who brought Salazar to her home in Carson, where she sought adult protective services help for him, Pratt said.
