A man was wounded in a shooting in the 2200 block of 14th Street in Long Beach shortly before 5 p.m. Monday, said Lisa Massacani of the Long Beach Police Department.
The victim was taken to a hospital and the L.A. Coroner's Office later said he died. He was 29 years old and his name was not released pending family notification, Long Beach Police Department spokeswoman Nancy Pratt said Tuesday afternoon.
She said detectives do not know if a dispute that preceded the shooting was gang-related.
Massacani told City News Service that police responded to a "shots fired" call at 4:50 p.m. and found the victim lying on the ground, Massacani says.
The address is near Anaheim Street between Junipero and Cherry avenues.
