Man Shot in Long Beach Drive-By

Two other vehicles were struck by gunfire from a passing vehicle, police said.

A man in a sport utility vehicle was wounded late Tuesday in a drive-by shooting in Long Beach, police said.

The gunfire broke out just before 10 p.m. Tuesday in the 1200 block of East 52nd Street, said Long Beach police Sgt. David Marander.

The victim was inside the stopped vehicle with another person and someone else was standing outside when another vehicle approached and someone inside fired numerous shots, striking the victim once in the upper body, Marander said. LBReport.com reported that the second person in the car was a woman.

The man drove himself or was driven to a hospital, but his condition was not available, Marander said. At least two other vehicles on the street were also struck by gunfire, Marander said.
