Man Shot in Long Beach By Deputy
Details remain sketchy but the man was involved in a confrontation with under-cover deputies.
A man was wounded Wednesday in a deputy-involved shooting in Long Beach. It was unclear what led to the shooting, which occurred at 5:33 p.m. in the 1400 block of North Santa Fe Avenue near Anaheim Street, said Deputy Don Walker of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.
The suspect was taken to a hospital for treatment, Walker said. His condition was not immediately available. No deputies were injured, Walker said. The man was in an older model Ford Ranger when he got into a confrontation with undercover sheriff's deputies, according to ABC7.
It was the first of two shootings within minutes of one another involving Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies. A male suspect in a recreational vehicle that ran into the side of a building at 5:57 p.m. in the 21200 block of South Figueroa Street, near the Carson Town Center, in Carson was killed in a deputy-involved shooting at 5:57 p.m., according to Walker and ABC7. The two shootings were not related, Walker said.
