A man was shot to death in a gang-related attack at a Long Beach bus stop south of Pacific Coast Highway, police said Thursday.
Levert Johnson, 25, was shot at about 8:40 p.m. Wednesday as he stood with a group at the bus stop on Cherry Avenue near 17th Street, which is south of PCH, said the Long Beach Police Department in an e-mailed press statement. Johnson later died at the hospital, department spokeswoman Nancy Pratt wrote in the announcement.
Johnson "was confronted by a male subject,'' according to a Long Beach Police Department statement. ``Words were exchanged between the two and the suspect then pulled out a handgun and shot victim Johnson, striking him multiple times.''
