Man Dies in Crash at 2nd and Marina

A 54-year-old Long Beach resident was killed early Tuesday morning when his automobile struck a pole.

A male resident of Long Beach was killed in a traffic accident early Tuesday morning at approximately 3:30 a.m. on the corner of 2nd Street and Marina Drive.

Officers responded to the collision, and upon arrival, they discovered a 1996 Red Izusu Rodeo that had collided with a traffic signal pole.

The driver, who was pronounced dead at the scene, is only being identified as a 54-year-old male resident of Long Beach until family can be notified of his death.

The official cause of death will be determined by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office. At the time officers arrived however, the driver was not wearing his seatbelt, which may have contributed to his death.
