Long Beach Police Surround Home of Suspected Burglary, No Suspect Found

Long Beach police spent more than an hour surrounding a home where citizens thought a burglary might have been in progress, but when they finally entered, there was no one inside, an officer said today.

The incident began at 11:45 p.m. Saturday with a report of a possible burglary in progress in the 1000 block of East 5th Street, said Long Beach police Officer Marlene Arrona.

A perimeter was set up, she said. "As a precaution, nearby residences have been cleared while a search is conducted."

At 1 a.m., officers determined there was no one in the residence, Arrona said.

There was no word on whether any property was stolen.
