Long Beach Police Nab Burglary, Robbery Suspects

Three suspects are arrested with help and tips from the community.

With some help from the community, the Long Beach Police Department arrested three individuals Wednesday in connection with two separate cases of alleged burglary and robbery.

In the first case, police arrested two men on suspicion of burglary after the men allegedly burglarized a private club room of a hotel in the 200 block of South Pine Avenue in Long Beach. Police said electronics, alcohol and food items were taken from the room.

According to police, the men were identified in surveillance video and were later seen walking back into the hotel. Hotel security immediately notified police that the men had returned and because of the collaboration, police said they were able to make a quick arrest.

Arrested were Michael Guinn, 40, of Las Vegas and Mullikin Dillon, 18, of Long Beach. Both men were being held in lieu of $20,000 bail at the Long Beach City Jail.

In a second incident on Wednesday, police arrested a 16-year-old juvenile after the boy allegedly approached a woman on the bike path in the 400 block of Shoreline Village Drive at around 6:55 p.m., asked her for the time and then proceeded to grab her phone from her and run.

Police said a good Samaritan in the area observed the crime and immediately called police with a description of the suspect. After an investigation by officers, police located the juvenile at a residence in the 1100 block of Pacific Avenue and arrested him on suspicion of robbery. The woman's phone was returned to her.

"I commend these members of the community who saw a need to get involved by calling the police and acted on that need," Long Beach police chief Jim McDonnell said in a statement. "Their actions have helped to make our community an even safer place."

Anyone with information related to the hotel burglary incident is asked to call Long Beach Police burglary detective Jose Yarruhs at 562-570-7351. Those with information on the phone robbery are asked to call Juvenile Investigations Detective Frank Romero at 562-570-7351.
