Long Beach Police Chief Issues 9/11 Reminder

Homeland security means hometown security, he said.

Long Beach police chief Jim McDonnell on Saturday issued a public safety reminder Patch shares with readers.

"As we approach the 10-year anniversary of the tragedy of September 11, 2001, it is imperative that we be vigilant in going about our normal activities," he said in a late afternoon email statement.

"While we are hopeful that the anniversary events will be peaceful, we must always be aware of the potential threats that we face as Americans," it intones.

"All citizens must do their part by reporting suspicious activity to the Long Beach Police Department via 9-1-1 or (562) 435-6711.
