Police Chief Jim McDonnell's crime capsule for Friday, September 9 - Monday, September 12.

Friday, September 9

ASSAULT – 14th Street and Rose Avenue – 10:30 p.m. Patrol officers responded to a shots fired call. When officers arrived they discovered a male victim who had been shot. The victim was transported to a local hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries. The investigation is continuing. -- Council District 6

TRAFFIC COLLISION – 2100 block of East 7th Street – 1:00 a.m. A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in the 2100 block of East 7th Street. The victim was transported to a local hospital in serious condition. Accident Investigation detectives are investigating the incident. -- Council District 2

FELONY SUSPECTS ARRESTED – 1700 block of East 1st Street – 1:30 a.m. Two male adults were located and arrested after officers identified them as suspects in an auto burglary. The investigation is ongoing. -- Council District 2

SUSPICIOUS DEVICE – 7400 block of East Carson Street – 6:30 p.m. A suspicious package was located inside of a local business.  Officers responded and located the owner of the package. After a thorough investigation, it was determined the package was not a threat. -- Council District 5

POWER OUTAGE – East Long Beach – 8:30 p.m. Southern California Edison reported a large power outage affecting approximately 1,300 customers in East Long Beach, including the Long Beach Airport. All services were restored by 2:00 a.m. on 9/11/11. -- Council District 5

ASSAULT – 1700 block of East 8th Street – 10:30 p.m. An unknown suspect(s) fired gunshots at a male adult victim as he drove his vehicle. The victim was not injured and the investigation is continuing. -- Council District 2

FELONY SUSPECTS ARRESTED – 1300 block of Long Beach Boulevard – 11:30 p.m. A group of adult females had an argument, which resulted in one of them being stabbed in the lower body. The suspects were located and arrested without incident.  The victim was treated at a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries. -- Council District 1

Sunday, September 11

OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING – 2700 block of Bellflower Boulevard – 4:00 p.m. Patrol officers were conducting a follow up investigation when they discovered two vicious dogs attacking an adult female, which resulted in an officer involved shooting. The investigation is ongoing. -- Council District 5

Monday, September 12

ASSAULT – 200 block of East Artesia Boulevard – 2:30 a.m. Officers conducted a traffic stop and discovered a male adult with a gunshot wound to his upper body. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The investigation is ongoing. -- Council District 9

BURGLARY – 2000 block of South Street – 3:00 a.m. A local business was broken into during the evening hours and the loss was removed. The investigation is continuing. -- Council District 9

ROBBERY – 1100 block of Orange Avenue – 4:30 a.m. A male adult victim was assaulted and robbed by an unknown male suspect.  The victim sustained minor injuries. -- Council District 6
